This laboratory was established with an equipment contribution from General Motors and its partners including UGS, EDS, and Sun Microsystems. The Partnership for Advanced CAD/CAM/CAE Education (PACE) Consortium donated computer hardware, software, and training for computer-aided design, manufacturing, and engineering.
The facility is used in the instruction of ME 363 Computer Applications in Engineering Design and ME 161 Introduction to Design, as well as by students working on senior design projects and extracurricular projects such as the Solar and AS Formula Cars.
The facility houses 46 Sun Ultra workstations, each of which can download the full Unigraphics software package for CAD/CAM/CAE applications.
