Dr. Hosder Elected AIAA Associate Fellow

Dr. Serhat Hosder, Associate Professor of Aerospace Engineering has been awarded the distinction of Associate Fellow in the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) for his outstanding contributions to aerospace science and technology.

The grade of Associate Fellow recognizes individuals “who have accomplished or been in charge of important engineering or scientific work, or who have done original work of outstanding merit, or who have otherwise made outstanding contributions to the arts, sciences, or technology of aeronautics or astronautics.” Each year, only one for every 150 AIAA voting members are selected and approved to advance to be an Associate Fellow.

Dr. Hosder will be formally inducted as an AIAA Associate Fellow at the Associate Fellows Recognition Ceremony and Dinner at the AIAA Science and Technology (SciTech 2017) Forum in Grapevine, Texas in January 2017.

Dr. Hosder is the director of the Aerospace Simulations Laboratory (http://web.mst.edu/~hosders/Serhat_Hosder/Home.html). His research activities focus on computational aerodynamics/aerothermodynamics, hypersonic flows and systems, uncertainty quantification, computational fluid dynamics, planetary entry/descent/landing of spacecraft, and robust aerodynamic shape optimization. Dr. Hosder is an active member of the AIAA Hypersonic Technologies and Aerospace Planes (HyTASP) Program Committee and recently been elected to serve as the Vice-Chair of this leading international organization in hypersonic technologies.
