History and Info
The Academy of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineers was established in 1995 to recognize outstanding alumni for their professional achievement and success, and to create a group that would provide organized assistance to the MAE department. Membership is by invitation, extended from the current members. The organization's ongoing focus is on improving the educational experience of the department's students.
The annual induction banquet and membership meeting are highlights of the Academy's year. This year's induction weekend will include a Social Hour and Induction Dinner on Thursday evening, where seven new members will be inducted into the Academy. It also includes the Annual Membership Meeting on Friday at which time the student design teams compete for donations from the Academy. Other activities include a BBQ lunch with the MAE students and a spouse/guest day outing of various tours and presentations. The weekend activities close with an Open House and Social in Toomey Hall.
This year's Induction Weekend is October 22nd and 23rd, 2009. The Special Events Committee is currently planning the activities for the weekend. The Academy of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineers invites all members to attend the events.
