Message from the Department Chair
Welcome to the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. We are the largest academic department on the campus of Missouri University of Science and Technology and the largest mechanical and aerospace engineering department on the state of Missouri. We offer bachelor, master and doctoral programs in both mechanical and aerospace engineering as well as an master’s degree program in manufacturing engineering. Our undergraduate and graduate students, some of the finest in the state and the nation, consist of traditional on-campus students as well as those involved with several of our distance program opportunities and graduate certificates.
Our undergraduate students will find a program that prepares graduates for careers in the mechanical or aerospace profession. Key employers include those in the aerospace, automotive, communications, energy and manufacturing areas. Our curriculums are designed to help students develop the ability to apply mathematical and scientific knowledge to the critical engineering problems of today as well as design components and systems to meet real world societal, political, environmental and ethical constraints. Our graduate students will find world-class laboratories and faculty working on cutting edge research in fields such as thermal-fluid sciences, energy conversion, design and manufacturing, materials, structures dynamical systems, controls, aeronautics and astronautics.
I encourage you to review the many web sites about our programs, faculty, and students. Many of our facilities are located in our newly constructed Toomey Hall, of which the students, alumni and faculty are very proud. Should you be interested in a visit to our Department, we would be pleased to show you the personnel and facilities that enable us to offer one the nation’s best mechanical and aerospace engineering programs.
